Downtown Harlingen is situated along the picturesque palm-lined Jackson Street that has served as Harlingen’s “Main Street” for more than a century. Downtown Harlingen features a variety of unique shops that specialize in home decor, apparel, original Texas artwork, hand-made jewelry, gifts, antiques, and collectibles.

A WWII museum located across the street from the statue displays many artifacts from that era and the more recent battles of "Desert Storm." Also be sure to see the 30 minute video show of the "Battle for Iwo Jima" and a photo area representing veterans of that battle.
